Nvidia announced DLSS 4 support for over 100 games within the DirectX API in April, along with neural shading capabilities.
NVIDIA DLSS 4 will expand to over 100 games and apps in the first quarter of 2025, increasing titles soon
At GDC 2025, Nvidia makes important announcements on software innovations such as DLSS 4 and neural shading.
The first one is about DLSS 4, and currently has support within over 100 games and applications. This is a major milestone for new technology launched earlier this year with the RTX 50 Series graphics cards. With DLSS 4, NVIDIA brings MFG support, achieving 4x frame generation features, as well as better upscaling technology that leads to better image quality compared to DLSS 3.

What’s with DLSS 4 is that it’s also very easy to migrate from DLSS 3 to the new upscaling API. This allows developers to upgrade to DLSS 4 if the game is already based on the DLSS 3 or 3.x API. With the ever-growing list, Nvidia has also announced additional titles that will immediately receive DLSS 4 support, including:
Nvidia is once again showing the comparisons highlighted by many high-tech outlets over the past few weeks. This is because it shows that the DLSS 4 (Transformer) model performs and looks better than DLSS 3. Even with performance presets, the DLSS 4 outperforms the quality presets of the DLSS 3, with the transformer model getting a small performance hit compared to the CNN model.
Speaking about the driver-level override option in DLSS 4, and when comparing it to DLSS 4, which is integrated directly into the game by developers, NVIDIA says it is working with game developers and partners to achieve the level of quality (ensures problems, bugs, or artifacts) required when integrating DLS into the SDK. Therefore, assuming good baseline integration, the DLSS 4 override should achieve similar results as a proper DLSS 4 integration.
When asked whether NVIDIA would bring higher frame generation models (beyond 4X) and DLSS 4 MFG (multi-frame generation) support on older GPUs such as the RTX 40 series, the company responded that it currently offers MFG support beyond 4X mode.
Nvidia also made slight comments on the black screen and various other issues affecting the RTX 50 GPU.
Of course, we take user bug reports very seriously and jump in immediately. The current drivers address many user bugs and will continue to do so.

Finally, Nvidia has confirmed that it is still working on Smooth Motion Technology, but there is no release window yet.
Neural Shading Support to Come to DirectXAPI next month
Also, at CES 2025, Nvidia announced a huge number of applications, including new neural shading technologies such as RTX neural materials, as well as textures, materials, and radiance caching. These bring small neural networks into programmable shaders to improve performance and reduce system resources such as memory. Neural Shaders and Neural Compression SDKs are already out as part of the NVIDIA RTX kit, and today, Green Team announced support for Tech Landing within the DirectX API in April.

Support arrives through the Agility SDK preview. Neural rendering is a big part of the RTX 50 series graphics cards, and it will be interesting to see how they work with developers to enhance the gaming experience of future titles.
