WASHINGTON – March 7, 2025 – The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today issued the following statement from President and CEO John Neuffer regarding this week’s announcement by TSMC’s CC Wei and President Trump: The company plans to increase its US investment in sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing to $100 billion (a total of $165 billion).
“This week’s announcement by TSMC and President Trump is a major victory for the US economy, supply chain security and domestic production of advanced chips that drive AI and many other future transformative technologies. Since TSMC’s first US investment was announced during President Trump’s first term, companies across the semiconductor ecosystem have committed to investing more than $50 trillion in the United States. We praise TSMC for their bold investment in the United States, and look forward to working with Washington leaders to advance policies that promote America’s economic strength, national security and technology leadership.”
