Graphic cards have become almost ridiculous and more powerful over the years, but they are also becoming increasingly difficult to actually buy. To address this issue, NVIDIA has introduced a plan calling validated priority access for GPUs on the recently released GEFORCE RTX 50 series. Verified Priority Access offers an unspecified number of people the opportunity to purchase a GEFORCE RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics card directly from the company.
This “opportunity” is only available to US customers with an NVIDIA account created on Pt at 9am/6am on January 30th. Stakeholders can sign up for the form and the invitation will be sent from next week.
Nvidia took a similar approach to address the shortage of 4090 cards, but it was an invitation-only pilot. This system helps to support legitimate customers and move more products away from scalpers and cryptographic operations. However, given how long GPU access is an issue, it’s great to see a more robust response from manufacturers.
