St. Petersburg University will launch two new artificial intelligence (AI) certification programs in spring 2025 to prepare students for jobs in the rapidly growing fields of AI applications, machine learning, and data science. As these technologies reshape industries across all sectors, graduates of SPC’s certification programs will gain practical experience and critical skills to help them in their AI careers.
“For anyone interested in artificial intelligence and its role and impact, this is a great starting point,” said Jimmy Chan, interim dean of the School of Computer and Information Technology. “We provide a complete picture of the applications and uses of this evolving technology. The more awareness there is, the more comfortable people will become with AI.”
SPC’s 9-credit Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence Certificate covers the theory and applications used in AI, how AI is transforming industry and business functions, and how to use technology ethically and responsibly. covers.
The 18-credit Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence Practitioner certification focuses on more practical skills in the areas of machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and data analysis. This certificate includes two programming courses that can be transferred to SPC’s Data Science AS degree.
“More graduates are being asked to integrate AI into their roles,” said Dawn Ellis, an SPC faculty member who helped design the coursework. “You can’t look for AI-powered tools in business without seeing them.”
Global examples of the impact of AI can be seen in software, robotics, smart assistants, health and medicine, self-driving cars, finance, travel, transportation, retail services, social media, and marketing, to name just a few. Masu.
