PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs announced new initiatives to improve Arizona’s workforce and continue to support the state’s booming semiconductor industry.
Governor Hobbs, in partnership with the Arizona Department of Commerce and Maricopa Community College, announced the fifth installment of the Future48 Workforce Accelerator on Thursday morning.
Future48 Workforce Accelerators launched in June 2023. This program provides students with a direct pipeline for on-the-job experience, helping them secure jobs in Arizona’s growing high-tech industry.
“Continuing to grow the talent pipeline in our industry will only continue to grow our success,” said Hobbs.
This will double the number of apprentices registered in construction and trades by the end of 2026, creating new career paths for pre-apprenticeships, particularly for women and underrepresented learners in other industries. It’s part of the state’s plan to increase access to the program.
This is the latest effort in a long-term and ambitious plan to have 60% of Arizonans earn a qualification through a certificate, license, technical program or degree by 2030.
