SK Hynix and MediaTek announced at SEMI Midwest Breakfast Forum. Degree Program Industry Leaders Gather in Washington, DC
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University welcomes semiconductor industry leaders to campus and Washington, D.C., as part of the university’s third annual Semiconductor Week.
Representatives from SK Hynix, MediaTek, McKinsey & Company and Applied Research Institute will be speakers at the SEMI Breakfast Forum on October 29 at the Purdue Memorial Union. . In April, SK Hynix announced plans to build an advanced packaging manufacturing and research and development facility for AI products at Purdue Research Park.
The topic of the SEMI Breakfast Forum will be about how Indiana and Midwest partners are strengthening the semiconductor industry and leveraging a pipeline of top talent to drive critical innovation that impacts global markets. This is a discussion.

The breakfast is hosted by Purdue and SEMI Midwest Chapter.
Semiconductor Week continues with the Semiconductor Degree Leadership Committee meeting, one of the first events featured as part of Semiconductor Week 2022. This year’s conference will be held October 30-31 in Washington, DC.
The Leadership Board will provide industry guidance for the Purdue Semiconductor Degree Program announced in May 2022. The board, comprised of executives from more than 35 leading microelectronics companies, will hear updates on workforce development programs as part of this year’s conference. Participate in discussions and provide feedback related to long-term corporate trends and strategies for developing a strong workforce.
The week’s events came in a year that featured Purdue’s announcement of an online Master of Science in Data Science and an online Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence featuring dual majors. This roundup highlights some of Purdue’s top semiconductor news.
Semiconductor Week for Students will include ASML Day on October 29th and 30th. The networking event will feature ASML, Purdue partners, and innovation leaders from the global semiconductor industry. Students can sign up for diversity groups as well as semiconductor summer training, awareness and preparation programs and meetings with representatives of the Semiconductor Student Alliance – Purdue Chapter.
Applied Materials, a leader in materials engineering solutions used to make nearly every new chip and advanced display in the world, will host Purdue on October 31 as part of “Changing the World with Chips – An Introduction to Semiconductors.” I will give a presentation to – students. The lecture will be “Introduction to Semiconductors”.
The Semiconductor Student Alliance will also host its first student-sponsored conference, “Students For CHIPS: Building Tomorrow’s Workforce,” on November 2nd. The event will feature a talk by Peter Bermel, professor and co-director of Scalable Asymmetric Lifecycle Engagement at Purdue University. Intern panels and research presentations will also be held.
