Total GPU shipments have been posting notable quarter-on-quarter increases due to the hype surrounding next-generation GPUs.
According to the latest statistics from JPR, the GPU industry is growing steadily and preparing for the debut of the next generation of GPUs.
According to new market research from Jon Peddie Research (JPR), GPU shipments are showing positive quarter-over-quarter growth, with AIB manufacturers seeing increases of up to 9.4%, and the GPU industry appears to be gaining momentum in terms of consumer adoption. This is great news for the market, especially at a time when companies like NVIDIA and AMD are preparing to bring their next generation of GPUs to market. Interestingly, we’re also seeing a slight tilt in market shares, which we’ll discuss next.
Starting with AMD, the company’s desktop AIB unit shipments are said to have increased 9% quarter-over-quarter, while NVIDIA recorded a more modest increase of 9.7%. Interestingly, Team Green continues to dominate in market share figures, capturing 88% of the market. This shows how aggressively NVIDIA’s GPUs are deploying in the market, especially their latest Ada Lovelace SKU, which saw significant discounts in the UK. However, Team Blue recorded flat growth last quarter, with no such change in their shipments last quarter.
As for the overall GPU market, JPR reports that market developments over the past few months, driven by the rise of AI PCs and deep discounts from manufacturers, have led to a significant 48% increase in shipments compared to last year. Commenting on the overall trend, the report states:
The add-in board market continues to astonish and surprise market observers who have predicted its demise for decades, with four consecutive quarters of growth, with only one small dip in Q1 (seasonally normal).
However, overall shipments are down compared to two years ago, which isn’t great news, but we’re optimistic about the future and the great games that will bring out all the performance that AIB has to offer.

It will be interesting to see how the GPU market evolves in the future, especially with the release of AMD’s RDNA 4 and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series “Blackwell” GPUs that are set to provide serious competition in the market right now. And yes, we haven’t forgotten about Intel’s Battlemage.
