Sales to the Americas led all markets, increasing 40.1% year over year. Global semiconductor sales increased 2.7% month over month.
WASHINGTON—September 3, 2024—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today announced that global semiconductor industry sales reached $51.3 billion in July 2024. This represents an 18.7% increase compared to the July 2023 total of $43.2 billion and a 2.7% increase over the June 2024 total of $50 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by sales and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip companies.
“The global semiconductor market continued to experience strong year-over-year growth in July, marking the fourth consecutive month of month-over-month sales increases,” said SIA President and CEO John Neufer. “The Americas market recorded especially strong growth in July, with year-over-year sales increasing 40.1%.”
By region, year-over-year sales increased in the Americas (40.1%), China (19.5%) and Asia Pacific/Other (16.7%), but decreased in Japan (-0.8%) and Europe (-12.0%). Monthly sales in May increased in the Americas (4.3%), Asia Pacific/Other (3.9%), Japan (3.3%) and China (0.9%), but decreased in Europe (-0.5%).
