Oprah Winfrey will host a primetime special on ABC that will explore the use of artificial intelligence and its impact on people’s daily lives.
The special, titled “AI and Our Future: An Oprah Winfrey Special,” will air on September 12 at 8 PM ET and be available to stream on Hulu the following day. The event will feature conversations with technology and media experts, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, former Microsoft CEO and Gates Foundation Chairman Bill Gates, and content creator Marques Brownlee.
“AI and Our Future: An Oprah Winfrey Special will provide a serious, entertaining and meaningful foundation for all audiences to understand AI, allowing everyone to participate in one of the most important global conversations of the 21st century,” the logline reads.
“Altman will provide a layperson’s explanation of how AI works and discuss the enormous personal responsibility that AI company executives must take. Gates will discuss the looming AI revolution in science, health and education and warn of AI’s once-in-a-century impact on the job market. YouTube creator and technologist Marques Brownlee will show Winfrey a demonstration of the incredible capabilities of AI,” the article continues.
Other guests will include Humane Technology Center co-founders Tristan Harris and Aza Raskin, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson.
“AI and Our Future: An Oprah Winfrey Special” is produced by Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, with Winfrey and Backstory Partners’ Josh Tyrandeil serving as executive producers.
