According to a recent survey conducted by ZeroBounce, Israel ranked fourth among the top 10 countries in the world that are considered most advanced in artificial intelligence (AI).
The study lists ten countries, in order from 1st to 10th place: the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Germany, India, France, South Korea and Singapore.
To compile the ranking, the study analyzed private investment over the past decade, the number of AI-related startups, and workforce-related criteria such as the percentage of AI professionals and related job openings.
“These investments and developments will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology around the world,” said Liviu Tanase, founder and CEO of ZeroBounce.
The United States is the most advanced in AI
The United States, which ranked first in AI advancements, was found to have attracted $335.2 billion in private investment over the past decade. Additionally, the study found that 5,500 AI startups have been founded in the U.S., and that people interested in AI will be able to find 71,000 related job openings by 2024.
China, which came in second on the ranking, was found to be the fastest advancing country in AI, investing $103.5 billion, just one-third of that in the U.S. However, the study noted that while there are fewer AI startups and job openings in China, there are more AI experts among the general workforce, accounting for 0.64% of the total working population in China.
The UK came in third with $22.2 billion in AI investment, with a total investment of $3.78 billion in 2023, one-sixth of the country’s investment over the past decade. Compared to India, the UK has founded twice as many startups, at 727, according to the study.
Israel is ranked 4th in the world
According to the study, Israel ranked among the top five countries and fourth in the world in AI advancements.
Israel spent $12.83 billion on AI innovation. 442 artificial intelligence startups were founded in the country, nearly 300 fewer than the UK, but the study noted that Israel has the largest concentration of AI talent at 1.13% compared to the overall workforce.
Canada ranks fifth behind Israel with private investment of $10.35 billion. In 2023, Canada spent $1.61 billion on AI, slightly more than Israel. Overall, AI-related jobs in Canada account for 1.05% of all job openings, the third highest percentage on the ranking.
