LOS ANGELES (AP) — California teams up with tech giants NVIDIA Officials announced Friday that they will help train students, university faculty, developers and data scientists in artificial intelligence in the state.
The initiative is part of an effort to expand resources to help students, educators and workers, especially at community colleges, gain new skills. Generative AI California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office said the partnership will advance students’ careers and education, and aims to add new curriculum and certifications, hardware and software, AI labs and workshops.
“California’s world-class companies are leading the way in breakthroughs in AI, and it is essential that we create more opportunities for Californians to harness this technology and gain the skills to advance their careers,” Governor Newsom said in a statement.
As part of Voluntary Agreement The State of California announced it is partnering with NVIDIA to introduce skills and training for careers in the state, including emerging roles for AI experts in government.
Nvidia is seeing surging demand for semiconductors used to power artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker invented the graphics processor unit (GPU), which helped grow the PC gaming market and redefined computer graphics. Now, Nvidia’s specialized chips are a key component. Helping to advance various forms of artificial intelligenceThis includes the latest generative AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
“We are at the beginning of a new industrial revolution that will transform trillion-dollar industries around the world,” Nvidia founder Jensen Huang said.
