Nvidia Inc’s next artificial intelligence chip is expected to be delayed due to design flaws, The Information reported, citing two unidentified people who work on making the chips and its server hardware.
The chip’s release could be delayed by three months or more, potentially affecting Nvidia’s customers, including Meta Platforms, Google and Microsoft.
Nvidia notified Microsoft this week about the delay affecting the most advanced AI chip model in its Blackwell series, according to an anonymous Microsoft employee and another person.
The Information added that due to the delays, large-scale deliveries are not expected until the first quarter of 2025.
An Nvidia spokesperson reportedly did not comment on the statement to customers about delays, but told The Information that “production is expected to ramp up later this year.”
Microsoft, Google, Amazon Web Services and Meta declined to comment to the magazine, and a TSMC spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
