Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang starts his day on an emotional note. While many leaders are overwhelmed by endless to-do lists, Huang takes stock of her priorities before the shift begins.
“I start each morning by doing my highest priority tasks first,” Huang says. “My day is already a success before I even get to work.”
Don’t miss:
Huang’s strategy is simple but powerful. It’s about completing the most important tasks first, no matter what. This gives him a sense of completion even before his workday officially begins, so he doesn’t get upset about the chaos during the day.
When people apologized for interrupting him, he said, “We have plenty of time.” He doesn’t say that just to be nice, but out of genuine courtesy. He sets priorities for the day and completes important tasks ahead of schedule, so he has more time to help others and deal with unexpected situations.

Huang also doesn’t like to schedule one-on-one meetings with his direct reports, but he does make himself available whenever they need him. In a speech at Stanford University, he said his executive team is made up of 55 people who report to him, and that the structure is intended to be agile and allow information to flow freely.

Instead of holding regular meetings, Huang prioritizes being available when needed. “I’ll give up everything for them unless they need me,” he said. He and his team maintain open communication throughout the day. This also means there are no formal performance appraisals, just continuous real-time feedback.
This sense of clarity and resilience allowed Huang and Nvidia to stand up to early critics. In the company’s early days, he was told Nvidia would never grow beyond $1 billion. However, Hwang did not let this underestimation define his limits. “People used to say NVIDIA would never be worth more than $1 billion,” he recalls. “Obviously, that was an underestimate and underestimated the size of the opportunity.”
