Taco Bell is committed to its artificial intelligence strategy and plans to expand its use of AI in its drive-thrus across the country.
Here’s what Taco Bell’s AI enhancements mean for customers and employees.
Taco Bell says expanding AI will help employees serve customers better
Artificial intelligence technology is already being used in 100 Taco Bell drive-thru locations, and Taco Bell’s parent company, Yum! Brands, plans to expand the use of AI to hundreds more locations by the end of the year.
“Benefits include reducing team member workload, improving order accuracy, providing a consistent and friendly experience and reducing wait times while driving increased profitability for Taco Bell, Yum Brands and its franchisees,” reads a press release issued by Yum Brands. “The voice AI technology takes a holistic approach that leverages feedback, data and insights, with an emphasis on intuitive, user-friendly technology to strengthen customer relationships and create a seamless ordering experience.”

Yum! Brands didn’t say which stores will feature the new AI drive-thru expansion, but if your local Taco Bell adopts the artificial intelligence improvements, you’ll likely notice less crowding and more efficient order confirmations.
“We see voice AI as a way to improve the experience for our team members and customers,” Taco Bell spokesperson Dane Matthews said in a Yum! Brands press release. “By leveraging AI, we can reduce our team members’ workload so they can focus on serving customers at the front desk.”
“This will also enable us to find new and meaningful ways to engage with our customers.”
