The chipmaker’s stock defeated more than 8% on Thursday following quarterly revenue, wiping out its value of around $273 billion and providing a market capitalization of $2.94 trillion. The S&P 500 index fell 1.6%, while the NASDAQ fell 2.8%.

Over the past few weeks, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said chip demand remains strong as the next-generation AI model will need more computing power as it considers “best to answer” in stages.
“The amount of calculation required to do that inference process is 100 times more than what we had done before,” Huang told CNBC’s Jon Fortt in an interview Wednesday.
