The first major and widely available Nvidia Shield TV update released over two years has been rolled out to users and brings a ton of bug fixes among other tweaks.
It’s been over five years since the last Shield TV was released, but the hardware continues to shake together and is actively supported by Nvidia. The last widely available update was released in November 2022, but eventually another new update is now available.
Shield Experience 9.2 began rolling out to all Shield TV devices this week. This update was made available early through the Hotfix program, which starts in October.
The final release of this update provides forced bug fixes to Shield TVs, including video playback fast forwarding and rewinding issues. Music issues during the cast, etc.
Beyond bug fixes, Shield Experience 9.2 brings several new features and features to Shield, including the Beta improved match frame rate feature and the ability to clear HDMI 1.4 flags during factory reset. However, there is one hiccup. As with previous Hotfix releases, the final release of Shield Experience 9.2 could potentially break the Google Home integration on Shield TV. After the update, the shield will be removed from the Google Home app and must be added manually after the fact.
