The Washington Nationals are well into their rebuild, and the 2024 season was a solid indication of what’s to come.
The majority of young prospects have made their major league debuts and are getting valuable reps, but their abilities will continue to improve over the next few years.
This winter, the club brought in veteran first baseman Josh Bell to lead the club and fill a position of need.
Anyone can look at a team and see that what they’re doing is going to start working and sooner or later they’re going to see the fruits of their labor, but AI is still a new development and as we speak, I’m learning.
In a recent article on TalkNats.com, DonH urged the following to see how much attention AI, specifically ChatGPT, is paying to the Nationals’ activities. “Be amazed by the Washington Nationals’ 2024 season overview.”
“While the Nationals were not a playoff contender in 2024, the organization appears to be heading in the right direction, with young talent continuing to develop and a solid mix of prospects and key veterans laying the foundation for the future.” “Successful,” read ChatGPT’s response. “The Nats’ season was about moving forward and laying the foundation for a competitive team for years to come.”
Even ChatGPT took note of the young core the club has built in recent years, but there were still shortcomings.
“The Nats’ offense was dominated by C.J. Abrams, who added a dynamic element to the top of the lineup with his speed and on-base ability, and Joey Meneses, who continued to impress with his bat and provide much-needed power. in the middle of the order, anchored by emerging stars like,” the popular AI program wrote. “Lane Thomas and Dominic Smith also had solid campaigns and were consistent contributors throughout the season.”
CJ Abrams was one of the better contributors on offense, but the “on-base ability” that ChatGPT praised was limited to just 40 walks and a .314 OBP. Joey Meneses appeared in only 76 games, had only three home runs, and had a bWAR of -0.5. Lane Thomas was a consistent contributor, but not until the MLB trade deadline before being traded to the Cleveland Guardians. Dominic Smith had zero total at-bats with the club in 2024.
ChatGPT and AI in general are constantly learning, pulling in information from across the internet to better understand things.
The main synopsis of the season was pretty spot on, but once the bots became more specific, all fears of impending world domination by artificial intelligence were alleviated.
