SAN ANTONIO – Five years after Megan Gonzalez was found murdered and burned in a field, her family continues to search for answers.
An AI-generated video featuring Megan Gonzalez and a sketch of a person of interest was released earlier this year in hopes of generating new leads.
Her father, Eddie Gonzalez, remains determined to find justice.
Megan Gonzalez, 20, was last seen on November 11, 2019. Her body was discovered on December 3, 2019 on a property in Atascosa County. Her father said the news of her death devastated the family.
“I don’t understand why that happened to her because everyone liked her. She got along with everyone,” Eddie Gonzalez said.
Despite years of investigation and leads, no arrests have been made. A recent AI video in which Megan Gonzalez talks about her case has renewed hope for answers.
“My case is still open. I need your help so my family can get some answers and justice for me,” the AI-generated video says.
The video also includes a sketch of a person of interest that Gonzalez’s stepmother reported seeing driving Megan’s truck in the days after her disappearance.
Eddie Gonzalez said the video was comforting, saying, “It felt like someone was really looking at her and recording her. It was so good. Feelings for me. I loved it.” I feel like I’ve seen it many times now.
When asked if he thought he would be arrested, Eddie Gonzalez remained hopeful. “I think so. It’s just a matter of time,” he said.
As the holiday season approaches, Eddie Gonzalez and his family continue to mourn Megan. “Like poinsettias. She loved them. I buy them. I still buy them,” he shared.
The investigation into Megan Gonzalez’s death continues. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP.
