Lisa Kudrow is concerned about an uncertain future as artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent in Hollywood.
During a recent appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, she talked about her recent film, Here, directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. The film used AI to allow the stars to play the same characters from their teens to old age.
“They filmed it, and they actually filmed that scene and were able to watch the replay as they were young and ready to see it,” Kudrow said. Ta.
She continued, “And all I got from that was, this is support for AI and blah blah blah. Like, ‘Oh, that ruins everything.’ What’s left? Forget about the actors, what about the actors that are coming up? Just license them and recycle them?”
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Kudlow was also concerned about the impact of AI outside of the entertainment industry.
“Leaving that completely aside, what kind of jobs are there for humans? So what? People would be given some sort of living wage, they wouldn’t have to work, right? How would that be enough?” ” she thought.
Hanks confirmed the use of AI in the film during an appearance on the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend last month.
“When you go and scan the data, they match it to every photo of me that exists, and they go back and find as many photos of me as I was 17, 18, 19 years old… my whole life. They , we use AI to do all the work and do it faster,” he said.

The “Forrest Gump” star continued, “We used two monitors during filming. One monitor was our actual appearance, and the other monitor was just about 1 nanometer. It was us inside deepfake technology with a second delay. On one monitor, I’m a 67-year-old man pretending to be a high school student, but on the other, I’m 17.”
Hanks doesn’t seem too worried about AI, saying, “It’s just a movie-making tool.”
“It’s not like, ‘Oh, everything’s ruined,’ but what’s left?”
He said he still spent hours in the make-up trailer because he needed “wigs and hair” to play characters of different ages for work like that seen on Here. said.
Instead of the motion-capture dots often seen on actors’ faces in behind-the-scenes images, Hanks revealed that the technology used on “Here” allowed him to “match the pores on his face that way.” I made it.
Tom Hanks says AI could allow him to star in movies even after his death. Star projects already using the technology
The Oscar winner also mentioned another impact AI has had on performance.
“We had to look at things like timing and rhythm, so there’s a factor there… I thought we were talking in a very realistic rhythm, and when I went to see the playback, “It was slow as molasses,” he explained.
“It’s just a filmmaking tool.”
The “Captain Phillips” star added: “It couldn’t have been more fun to sit there and watch ourselves all dressed up.”
Hanks had to warn fans about fake ads that used his name, likeness, and voice via AI to promote products.
