It has finally happened. Nvidia just teased its upcoming RTX 50 series in a big way with a full-scale fan event leading up to the official announcement in January. Under the #GeForceGreats banner, Nvidia is celebrating some of its best graphics cards, but it’s already looking to the future. Here’s what’s happening and how you can get involved.
After a long period of silence, Nvidia GeForce social media accounts posted updates about GeForce at CES 2025 and invited fans to tune in to the keynote on January 6, 2025. We already knew about the keynote, but this is our first official confirmation that we won the award. Nvidia’s data center business isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Updates are also being made to the next generation of gaming GPUs.
However, that small update isn’t the only thing going on. Nvidia is celebrating 25 years since launching its first GPU, the GeForce 256, by looking back. The company is asking gamers and enthusiasts to participate on social media using the hashtag “GeForceGreats,” and continued participation will lead to prizes.
Every time you like, comment, or share a post using the hashtag, it fills up Nvidia’s GeForce Hype Meter and you can watch it live on Nvidia’s Twitch channel. Prizes await. Nvidia hasn’t revealed exactly what we can expect, but as the meter grows, so does the prize pool, so we might learn more soon.
Nvidia is also bringing back the GeForce LAN Party, an event it held in 2011 and never held again. It will be a 50-hour online and in-person gaming marathon that ends just before Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang begins his CES 2025 keynote. Is the 50 hours of operation time a coincidence? There is no chance.
The original Nvidia LAN party was held aboard the decommissioned USS Hornet aircraft. Many of our events will now be held online starting January 4th at 4:30pm PT. NVIDIA is teasing “epic online GeForce LAN missions” where you can win in-game prizes and GeForceGreats hype. For other things to win. These events will also be held live in various locations around the globe, including Las Vegas, Beijing, Taipei, and Berlin. You can sign up for these events through Nvidia’s LAN 50 website, but registration is not yet open.

So what happens next? To fill up Nvidia’s hype meter, fans should use the GeForceGreats hashtag to interact with the company’s social media sites, including GeForce, GFN, Studio, and AI_PC profiles. Other than that, preparations for Nvidia’s RTX 50 series have finally begun, so keep an eye out for potential leaks. Recently, a famous leaker said that the RTX 5090 could be up to 70% faster than the RTX 4090.
