Sales in October reached an all-time high in terms of monthly totals. Global chip sales increased 2.8% month-on-month
WASHINGTON—December 5, 2024—Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) Today, we announced that global semiconductor sales in October 2024 reached $56.9 billion. This was a 22.1% increase compared to the October 2023 total of $46.6 billion and a 2.8% increase compared to the September 2024 total of $55.3 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA accounts for 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and almost two-thirds of non-U.S. semiconductor companies.
Additionally, the new SIA-approved WSTS industry forecast has been revised upwards to 2024. Global annual sales are expected to increase 19.0% year over year, with total sales expected to reach $626.9 billion this year. Global sales in 2025 are expected to reach $697.2 billion, an increase of 11.2% from the previous year. WSTS tabulates semi-annual industry forecasts by gathering input from a broad group of global semiconductor companies, providing accurate and timely indicators of semiconductor trends.
