GeForce Experience isn’t specifically included in Nvidia’s latest driver update (Nvidia graphics driver version 566.36), but if you look at the driver components you’ll see that the Nvidia app is used instead.
The AI and graphics card company wanted to replace GeForce Experience and the Nvidia Control Panel and integrate all GPU-related controls into a new Nvidia app. The app has been in development since early 2024 until exiting beta on November 12 last year. With this driver update, the company will officially end support for the legacy GeForce Experience app, and the old Nvidia Control Panel will also be finally deprecated after the move. Add all functionality to your new app.
The Nvidia app brings it all together, allowing you to launch games, update drivers, change global or per-app graphics settings, tweak your system, and even redeem offers in one place. Under the (Home) tab, you can find other Nvidia services such as GeForce Now, Nvidia Broadcast, and Nvidia Canvas. However, while some system settings have already been migrated to the new app, some advanced options, such as Nvidia Surround, are only available in the Nvidia Control Panel, so don’t remove them from your PC just yet.
You can also see the updated overlay by pressing Alt + Z in the Nvidia app. Gone is the old options menu that covers the top of the screen, and now you’ll see a sidebar with several options, including recording, screenshots, instant replay, photo mode, and highlights. Apart from that, you can now capture your screen with AV1 120 FPS recording, allowing you to record your in-game achievements in the best possible quality and smoothness.
Overall, this new app isn’t all that different from the old GeForce Experience app, but it’s much faster to install and load, and it offers some additional features. Additionally, all customization options are displayed in one window, making it easy to adjust settings without opening separate windows or digging through the outdated user interface of Nvidia Control Panel. Another thing more privacy-minded gamers will want is that the Nvidia app eliminates the mandatory Nvidia account sign-up. So even if you don’t have an Nvidia account, you can still use it to manage your system and get automatic driver updates.
