Students at Lancaster Country Day School walked out of their classrooms Friday morning expressing disappointment with the administration’s response and lack of communication after a student created an artificial intelligence-generated nude image of a female classmate. expressed.
In a statement about the walkout, Principal Matt Misiche said students legitimately voiced their concerns and frustrations about the school’s response to the deepfake nude incident.
“Many feel strongly that we are not being as open and communicative as we could be, which is adding to their distress,” Misice wrote. “We will continue to work with students to find ways to promote healing and build on what we hear from them. This is a reminder that we have much to learn from them. It’s important.”
When contacted late Friday afternoon, the district had no information on how many students had been expelled. The district also said the investigation into the AI-generated images is ongoing, but did not provide further details.
