Global chip sales hit record monthly total in September
WASHINGTON—November 5, 2024—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced today that global semiconductor sales for the third quarter of 2024 were $166 billion, an increase of 23.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023, and the growth of 2024. The company announced an increase of 10.7% compared to the second quarter of 2019. Sales in September 2024 were $55.3 billion, an increase of 4.1% compared to August. The total amount in 2024 is $53.1 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA accounts for 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and almost two-thirds of non-U.S. semiconductor companies.
“The global semiconductor market continued to grow in the third quarter of 2024, with quarterly revenue growth at its highest since 2016,” said John Neufer, President and CEO of SIA. he said. “September sales reached the highest monthly total in market history, driven by a 46.3% year-over-year increase in the Americas.”
By region, September year-on-year sales increased in the Americas (46.3%), China (22.9%), Asia Pacific/All Other (18.4%), and Japan (7.7%), but Europe (-8.2%). %). September month-over-month sales increased in Japan (5.3%), Asia Pacific/All Other (4.5%), the Americas (4.1%), Europe (4.0%), and China (3.6%).
