Public-private consortium focuses on innovation, collaboration and education to strengthen U.S. semiconductor industry
washington, September 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Natcast, the dedicated nonprofit organization designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC), today announced the official launch of the NSTC Membership Program. This public-private consortium will strengthen the U.S. semiconductor industry with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and education. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the United States’ efforts to increase its competitiveness in semiconductor leadership.
NSTC members benefit from dynamic, cross-sector collaboration. Access to state-of-the-art research and development facilities. Developing a member-driven research agenda. Unique opportunity to research, prototype and scale up semiconductor technology. Workforce and education best practices and initiatives developed through the NSTC Workforce Center of Excellence. Several of these resources will be available throughout 2025 to reduce barriers for members to bring new technologies from the lab to the factory, and to build a strong U.S. semiconductor workforce development ecosystem. The purpose is to support members’ efforts to maintain and maintain their membership.
“As a public-private consortium, NSTC represents a bold vision for American semiconductor innovation.” Deirdre HanfordNutcast CEO. “The launch of the NSTC Membership Program today is an important step in our evolution as it allows us to welcome and formally recognize members into the consortium. We support our members as they lead the next era of expanding innovation and collaboration. ” Providing American leadership in tomorrow’s technologies and creating a sustainable semiconductor workforce today and into the future. ”
“CHIPS for America is bridging the gap between invention and commercialization and ushering in a new technology revolution in the semiconductor ecosystem,” said the Secretary of Commerce. Gina Raimondo. “The NSTC represents the foundation for the next wave of technology innovation and serves as an anchor institution that will shape the future of semiconductor innovation. Through unprecedented collaboration between industry, academia, labor organizations, and government, NSTC members: America’s Leadership in World Semiconductor Technology.”
NSTC’s mission is to convene diverse members from across the semiconductor ecosystem around three common strategic goals:
Strengthening U.S. Semiconductor Leadership: Through innovative, member-driven research initiatives, NSTC addresses industry and academia’s most pressing semiconductor R&D challenges and provides U.S. leadership in fundamental technologies for future applications and industries. Expand. Reduce lab-to-factory time: By providing members with collaborative opportunities and access to state-of-the-art facilities and capabilities, NSTC reduces the time it takes to explore, prototype, and validate innovative semiconductor designs and technologies. and reduce costs. Expanding the U.S. Semiconductor Workforce: By developing and distributing critical workforce and education programs and resources, NSTC supports its members in expanding and sustaining a strong U.S. semiconductor workforce development ecosystem.
“NSTC members will be at the forefront of defining future technologies.” susan feintSenior Vice President of Ecosystem Development, Natcast. “NSTC seeks to partner with organizations across the industry value chain, academia, and government.
