DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The University of Dayton has received $2 million to bolster its advanced manufacturing program through a congressionally directed spending request.
Rep. Mike Turner and Sen. Sherrod Brown secured funding through the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This investment will provide cutting-edge training and equipment for students studying the emerging semiconductor industry.

Turner launched the bipartisan effort in March 2023 when she wrote a letter to then-House Appropriations Committee Chair Kay Granger, who received further support from Sen. Rosa Delora as a candidate for the Community Projects Fund.
The funding will support the growth and development of the University of Dayton’s Southwest Ohio Integrated Microsystems Workforce and Research Center.
